What Is QnEK?

Quick and Easy Kaizen (QnEK) is a practice of everyday improvement that respects the autonomy, goodwill, and desire for personal development of the worker. It comes from the Japanese suggestion approach called Kaizen Teian. Both approaches focus on small change. But QnEK is an improvement system rather than a suggestion system. People make improvements to their work and then they report the change in writing.

A little safer, easier, and more interesting. That’s the spirit of Quick-n-Easy-Kazien.

Why in Writing?

The process of writing down the improvement is part of the process of making improvements. It starts with a good, but short, description of the problem. It then goes on to describe what the person changed. It finishes with a description of the small benefit that was created.

Writing about the improvement is also part of the process for sharing improvements among a team.

Why Did We Create this Site?

We noticed that some work settings and companies have not been open to kaizen. Perhaps they just don’t know about it. Perhaps they are concerned in some way about it. Either way, we intend to change that. We are promoting QnEK by getting those with the intent to improve their work situation to come together with others and to get a little help or give a little help along the way.

Who Are We?

Hal Macomber is behind this world wide promotion. I’ve got some help from friends, Norman Bodek and Kim Black. I suspect others will find ways to help out. How about you?

What Can You Do?

Use the site. Tell others about the site. Blog about it. Copy improvements your read about. And get others in the habit of making small change. And when you do, leave us a message. We’d love to hear what result you produce.
